President’s Message

Dear Comrades,

It has been an eventful autumn.  On September 10 we celebrated the Branch’s 90th Anniversary with a dinner and dance.  It was a great success.  Anew commemorative brochure was produced for the occasion.  The Ladies’ Auxiliary and Pipe Band also celebrated their 90th Anniversaries.  Now that the Poppy Campaign and Remembrance are behind us, we continue the regular Branch activities.  I wish everybody all the best in the Christmas and Holiday season.

Colour Party

Dear Comrades,

Age and infirmity is wearying the Colour Party.   Our numbers are down and several members can no longer march.  The Colour Party, along with the Pipe Band, are the faces of the Branch on parades.  We need new members to rebuild.  If you would like to join the Colour Party, please see me or leave a note at the bar.

Pipe Band

Dear Comrades,

The Pipe Band needs new members of all ages.  We would especially like to have young members to train the next generation of pipers and drummers.  We feel that being in a Pipe Band is an ideal involvement for young people.  It helps develop an appreciation and respect for tradition, history and culture.  This may be especially true in a Legion band where much of the activity involves Veterans functions and solemn  Remembrance services.  Piping truly spans and links the generations.   If you, or someone you know,  would like to learn to play the bagpipes or drums, or you have a child, grandchild, niece or nephew or just a kid you know who would like to learn, please contact us.  No experience is necessary and teaching is free.  We practice every Monday night from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.  The early start time is allow young members to get home early.  Please call Jim Murray at 905-544-1819 or Doug Tulloch at 905-664-4086 or e-mail Doug at doug@tullochbagpipes,com for more information.
